Don't think for a minute you can't get some improvements on a 200T .It's just a tiny little thing to tinker with .

Its really funny how this thread turned into a "you can't get any improvement out of a 200T muffler" when all I asked was how do you split the muffler? What if I suspected the muffler was carboned up and wanted to clean it??? Plus from looking at the outside of the muffler it just kind of left me confused. I wanted to siee the inside and see how it worked.

I am half blind.. Got 3 eyes that look good only one that sees good.
And my hearen is questionable.
What kind of eye problem do you have? When it came to the comment of the eye thing I made it was about me. Lol. Not trying to turn this thread into a eyeball thing but I have a eye disses called "RP" I won't try to spell it out but it's not good plus on top of that glacoma not sure if I spelled that right. Now I won't bore you with any more details but they made a movie of my eye disses and it is called "At first sight" good movie. Now on the saw thing I know the 200t can make more power but they already make enough power bone stalk. Yes I have modified a few and yes there even faster but you do not want to ever make a mustache in the tree with one some times slower is safer. But if it is just for fun yea go for it just be careful more people have been heart by top handle Saw's than any other Saw out there at least that's how I see it.:beer-toast1:

Ok thanks for the help. I removed the screws and used a utility knife to go around the joint and it popped apart. As far as any improvements... well its everyones opinion. I think port matching and putting a radius on the inner port entrance will help. The place I also see that could need some work is the exhaust outlet. The exhaust outlet is kind of a zig zag tunnel that could be opened up. If you look at the square exhaust outlet the top right corner has a square block of material that can be removed. Also some of the spark screen channel inside the muffler can be ground away to open it up a little. I will be attaching a new spark screen to the exhaust outlet. In my opinion its definitely worth taking the time to open it up and cleaning it up.
If you put the screen back you wasted your time with the other mods to the saw.
Stopped reading at this post.

That little aluminum muffler doesn't even have the right shape for a pressure can .The protrusions and the baffle/screen just bounce the sound around to attenuate it .Those little pea picker saws were born to run but as I said they can be tweeked if you want to .One of mine is,the other stock . The hotty would't start the last time I wanted to use it and I haven't taken the time to find out why yet .

There's no real reason to modify a 200t muffler if you ask me other than match port it to the cylinder.

Like about all forums questions answered often times are only opinions .Some have some merit obviously some are just BS .You just have to know how to separate the grain from the chaff .In other words disregard the BS .

Don't worry I've been around forums long enough to know how to read between the lines. In this case I got the answer to my question I just had to wade around all the opinions and speculations.

You're just going to get that .I could really push back on stupid chit but choose not to --most of the time .With a damned muffler it's all about flow and physics it's not about opinions as if there are chainsaw police checking every chain saw in the world .Rule of thumb if it can't get out it can't get in .The exhaust is where you start .How simple is that ?
