Hi I was wondering what manufacturers have the piston made so the bearing doesn't slide side ways on the pin? Does this even matter in a work saw that gets used most every day?

Sometimes guys don’t check the sub forums. Post your questions in the main chainsaw forum for more traffic.
Only issue I’ve heard of with the bearing having side to side play is in the Meteor 10mm 044 pistons. Don’t believe it’s an issue in an 066

I think he is worried about extra slop or too much room between the piston wrist pin walls or towers and the con rod.

Yea, the only (potential) issue I was aware of was also the Meteor 10 mm pistons.

Unless he is referring to the Asian 660 piston pin bearing failures. For $10, I use OEM.

On the cheaper pistons like what comes in the kits the wrist pin bearing can slide side ways in the piston a long ways, the piston in the blue saw was not this way. I was thinking that this could cause a bad off side loading on wrist pin and bearing. I was working on it with my 3 yr old told him about the "boom" that happens at the top of the stroke and we chipped the corners of it while turning it over but he had fun. Sorry i didn't explain quite right.

I would think that unless the bearings are worn, that the rod would have to stay straight.

Yea the rod does stay straight, the wrist pin bearing can slide around side to side I'll take a picture when I get the new piston from Bailey's

I thought it could be, thats why ordered a meteor, it's just like the blue saws original. kinda makes you wonder how many upgrades the blue saws have.

If the bearing is the full width of the opening in the piston I can't see how there's any danger. If the rod could actually be partially unsupported while being centered in a running saw then there is an issue but I suspect you would probably have to have a bearing that is less than 2/3 the piston opening to let that happen. I really doubt there would be any issue with the one in the pic with the saw assembled.

The bearing is ever so slightly smaller than connecting rod end and the rollers in bearing are shorter yet

I used the hy way pop up piston in my build couldn’t get more compression by cutting the band would of free ported but a plus is the hyway has wide skirts

How much compression you goin for? I've got 180 to 190 and deeper to go

That’s good was looking for that ended up around 185 ish after first tank haven’t checked it to see where it’s at after 5 or six tanks

It always seems to me much over 190 and recoil life shortens drastically for a logging, felling saw but maybe less timing would help that
