The other saw is now also sold.

I have access to several more of these, but I'm swamped with other saws that I have to get done. So, as always, if you don't mind the wait, I can get the process started for you on one of these, or another model. Right now I can get every pro model Stihl except the 881.

The 400 reminds me so much of an 044 but with smooth av, better filtration, better throttle response and autotune. It’s got 70cc power in a 60cc chassis. It’s the saw we all hoped the 441 was gonna be!

A stock 400 or one that's had the innards tinkered with by any old pie eating tool turner?
Edit ~ Said with the utmost respect for the porters. Most of the saws I own have had some "tinkering" done.

I'm not sure really Ty. I doubt it will have the same characteristics. The 440 being a two port engine with large transfer passages VS a 4 port stratified engine with tight passages. I think the 440 will have more grunt than the 400. For me the 400 is a perfect powerhead for a 20" ES Light bar. Light enough to be a "one saw plan" yet powerful enough to pull even a 28 if needed.

I've got both, and both ported by Randy. I think the 440 is more powerful, but by the clock there isn't much difference. I did some videos comparing them. Randy is right on though, a 20" bar on the 400 is just about perfect.

440 VS 400 is like an old school muscle car VS a well refined super car. The old muscle car has that raw power feel. The super car is so smooth that it doesn't feel as bad ass.......but it is.

Great analogy, I never would of guessed a 400c, in the same league as a 044/440, just looking at the specs on paper.

I was able to fight the urge on that 400. Very glad it sold.
Was working on bucking and skidding out blowdowns Monday and wanted to run the 500 and 440 side by side.
By the end of the day, just wanted to get equipment loaded and get home.
Will keep that comparison on the to do list.
