cant wait! I was sick last week too. Last couple days I started feeling better.

Really sorry about taking so long. I had way more Husqvarnas to get thru than I realized. I always seem to underestimate how long it takes to get these things done.

I just hope it turns out like I hope it will and I don’t have unrealistic expectations. Is any of the work that’s done documented at all so I know what was done to it?

I've not posted anything on the mods for these 500s. But....

I cut .040" from the squish, and .047" from the base. Do some pretty simple port work to the exhaust and transfers. On the intake port I use epoxy to raise the floor of that port to 81° opening point. I widen the exhaust flange outlet, then remove the baffle from the muffler and port match it to the exhaust flange. This saw uses an optical trigger to time the fuel injection and ignition timing, so timing advance isn't practical. They wind up pretty strong.....and so far I've heard nothing but good things from the people I've sent them to.

i really should sit down and read about the ideas and processes of doing this stuff. Like how to measure degrees and the how and why’s to change them. I used to be a machinist many years ago so I do have some nice tools. But I don’t know why specific things are done.

Lots of good knowledge in these threads:

I think there's like 33.3 different parts or something...

Do you find the epoxy in the intake to make these saws less thirsty than guys say they are?

I've not spent a lot of time on the trigger of these. I had one I kept stock for a few months while I used it to gauge the gains I was getting, but I only made a few cuts at a time for the comparison videos. The shorter intake isn't as much about fuel efficiency as it is about performance. Too much intake duration kills base compression, and performance along with it.

It will turn out ok Randy does great work :)

Prolly...
Had him do a little wrenching on an ole 026.
Then ended up getting a 261 he might've hit with a bent set of calibers, broken socket and a dremel for a couple of minutes
Then some wrenching on a 440.
Then a 372 XP that truly is a turd... Yep, hasn't cut a single log since it arrived here. Just sits around and is a true PSP's dream come true.
Maybe if I put some mix in it, and a bar and chain on it, it would work. Just haven't gotten that far with it yet.
