@Hinerman can you elaborate on the 064 spanking a 500i's bottom? Under what set of conditions? I have and 064 I restored and it's a heck of a runner but the 500i looks like a killer long bar saw for 36" and up.

Any set of conditions...first it's got it by 5cc's and Randy ported it.

I was curious myself.

Personally I DNT see any 80cc saw as a true 36" and up saw, most of us all have bigger saws for that. People running long bars on to small of saws just makes me think WTF? Why? It doesn't impress me seeing a 017 running a 32" bar, just looks foolish.jmo

I could easily be way wrong in my thinking but I'm thinking the 500i may just be an odd ball. I don't speak whatever language they're speaking but there are a number of side by side 395xp 500i videos on YouTube and the 500i is very surprising (at least in the videos) with a long bar.

Mostly I am just talking noise and stirring the pot. Never ran a 500i; but like PA Dan said, 5 more CCs and it is ported---under any set of conditions. A well ported 064 is one of the more impressive saws I have ran. I have a TM 064; there is no reason it could not pull a 36" bar in hard wood.

I agree, the 500i looks impressive too, especially for the weight.

Not my saw, but a good example:

The 395 doesn't really sound like it is tuned properly at all in my opinion and who knows what is happening with the chains.

He didn’t swap the same bar and chain between them. Which I’ve found to be essential to testing fairly between saws... and this isn’t me being a fanboy defending the other saw, it’s just the facts. If anyone doesn’t believe me they can try for themselves, I wouldn’t want to mislead anyone. 500i is a impressive machine, but it’s a racehorse. The 395 is a ox... a long bar .404 machine. Two different saws that I would use for different purposes. Anyway I think I’ve derailed this gentleman’s thread enough. GLWS.

WE derailed this poor man's thread pretty good. I think the saw is sold pending funds though so... I don't feel that bad.

Heck, if you'll take a check in the mail I'll take the other 064!

Note, Just to be clear this is just a checks in the mail joke. There is no check int the mail. There never is.
