It would be nice if the radius was longer on the ends so the chain wouldn't snag. If I were just free hand filing I would also like it a little longer.

Fine as it is and great workmanship.

Ron
I have noted the snag problem. I roll my chain so it goes up to the big radius and that seems to work good.

Very nice job sir on the vice. Would I be correct in thinking this would enhance the Timberlines effectiveness?
Yes.
I've been using an early model of the vise, with a Timberline, for three years.
They complement each other perfectly. Once the Timberline is properly set, it's idiot proof. The vise holds the chain motionless, allowing you to sharpen every cutter exactly the same.

Nice I was just about to cut up my vise grips. Something I could mount in my work trailer? Then I could sharpen chain while waiting on the plants to get running. All ways waiting.

Who here would use it in high volume? I am thinking of sending one for review.

Philbert, Mark, pros: its less expensive 60-70 shipped, less moving parts. Cons: its shorter so there is 2 cutters up not 4, it won't grip as tightly for EXTREMELY heavy handed filing.

I could be your test dummy. I still prefer your original.
