I picked up a box of Stihl parts last summer for cheap. There’s a mostly complete ms260 that I wish were a complete and lightly ported ms260. Also a couple partial 361’s with lots of missing plastic/parts but supposedly still ok cylinders. I live in Indiana. Anyone have any ideas of someone within driving distance that would have any interest in working on this 260?

I would source the missing parts that you know of on the 260 before you even do anything, it will save you $ and time.
I would be willing to bet there is quite a few people on here that you could ship the saw to.

I think it’s just missing a clutch cover(and a bar/chain…) Supposedly was a running saw.

It isn’t always easy to figure out where builders/porters are located, even if you do figure out which guys might be willing to work on it. Was hoping maybe someone would know somebody within a couple hours that would work on it and maybe also be interested in the two partial 361’s just because maybe they like having spare parts on hand and I don’t foresee myself doing anything with them.

If you do end up having to ship, look at using Pirate Ship, you can potentially save a bunch of money through them. I had four Christmas boxes that would have cost $120 through the post office, but only cost $40 through UPS through Pirate Ship. You can always post pictures of the 361s and see if anyone here might want to buy them.

I can probably get some pics tomorrow after work. You ever do any light port work?

I’m a little less than an hour from downtown Cincinatti.
I have just started to learn about porting and done a couple saws for myself but I am no where near as good as some of the builders on here and have no way to do any machine work

You cannot swing a dead cat without hitting a "builder".... many in the Midwest . I caution you to select a quality person no matter the distance or price. I will assure you shipping is cheaper than fuel and time.
