Mastermind trip

Took a ride up to my ole friend's house today. About an hour and half north of me. Had a good chat as we always do and came home with a trunk full of 044's and 250's. Guess he liked his birthday card I gave him @Mastermind

One 044 is gonna be my buddies, I'm gonna use the 10mm top end for myself. Gonna delete the base gasket, advance the timing, and muffler mod.

Haha it'll wear a 20" and 8 pin so I'm sure it will lol My 2166 covers my 25"-28" but ill keep that in mind.

I've worked on a few of them I've just never owned one. One reason I've wanted one. I figure with a 20" 8 pin it'll be a ripper

I agree 100% with the mods you are planning, but I like a 7 pin rim, even on my ported 046/460s. Then again, I can be a bit heavy handed. That said, one of my 044s is wearing a 28".

With those mods, I think it will be your favorite all around saw!

Gosh, if I knew Randy was giving away the store, I would have made the trip!!!

Well they weren't given away. The 250's were. I agree that it'll be my favorite all around saw, I have no doubt. The weight is nice and it should have good power.

They also seem to like HD-2 filters, and I go 20/1000 off the key for timing. Seems to work very well. (Stole that 20/1000 amount from Randy's build thread of the 461).

.020 seems to work well on many stihls Ive done. (MS250, 192, 026) seems like the magic number
