The 2xx series were built (for the most part, definitely designed) in the 100% pre EPA era. That, and at the time the competition was so much heavier, slower, and for the most part lacked anti vibe that they were the king of the hill. When the competition started catching up (and in some cases passing) and the demand came for lighter, faster, better AV and cleaner running (from the EPA) concessions had to be made. Stihl for the most part is living off of credits from their 4MIX and are building relatively dirty saws. A 346, 359, 372 OE (the X Torq piston is too heavy for the crankshaft) and 385 will live a VERY long life with good oil and more than 50:1 (prefer 32:1 myself, but absolutely no less than 40:1). Going to repeat myself here, you can't be that light and high strung and be built like a brick chit house at the same time.
