Hello.
Very intresting rewiev!
When reading the specs, it strikes me the values for vibrations is quite high for a new saw. How do you feel about it?

Best Regards

The vibrations do not really go through to the handles, at least it doesn't feel like they are.

Thank you!
I will try to figure out how to upload pictures.

Best Regards

I had to go back to page 15 to find this thread.

I did some maintenance on my Dolmar PS-550 today and discovered this!

I am pretty certain the crack was not there before.
Anybody else having a crack on the inside of the drum on their PS-550/EA5600F?

@Wilhelm
Great video of the PS550.
Do you know how the bar studs are attached to this saw,
are they screwed into a plastic or aluminium frame,
or do the screw into the magnesium case.

I like how this saw runs, seems to have good torque,
I also like the PS5105, but it seems more lively,
which may not be a necessary for bucking in the yard.
I can get one for around 450.00 euro new, I definitely
won’t get a PS5105 for that.

I don't really know how the bar bolts mount to the PH.
In the IPL it looks like the bolts screw into the right case side.

A PS-5105 should be snappier than a PS-550 even with the cc disadvantage.
The PS-5105 is a PRO saw, while the PS-550 is semi pro at best.
Also, my EA5000 got stuffed with sausages!
Thank You Kevin. :)

All the above been said, the PS-550 has surprisingly good low end grunt.
Mine is set up with a 18" 3/8" B&C and she will pull it fully buried in beech and oak.

Get both saws.
I did! :p

Thanks for the replies,
Which would you buy for firewood cutting.
I know the PS 5105 is a little lighter, but was
there not an overheating problem with them,
resulting in a different cylinder design, if this
is so, how would one know the redesigned cylinder.

Thanks

I know the early PS5100's had a higher rev limit on the coil, and with a lean tune, they could burn up. They had fixed that before the PS5105 was made, however now the 5105 has a catalytic converter in the muffler, which makes a lot of heat. Make that cat go away, and your heat problem is solved.

If You have the coin You can't go wrong with a PS-5105/EA5000!
As far as I am aware the initial issues were related to the PS-5000 and PS-5100.
The PS-5105 is dubbed as reliable.

If funds are tight the PS-550/EA5600 is a little more affordable and makes up with a little more cc.
I have been actively using my PS-550, she has yet to fail me.
I love the fact that I can get up to 45 minutes of runtime on a tank of fuel continuously bucking clean beech logs.
The PS-550 has absolutely no hot restart issues.

Sounds like they are both winners, so it may just come down to what is available and at what price. My only concern would be that the 550/5600 is a new design so there may be some bugs to work out, whereas the 5105 seems to have already overcome most of them.
