Hi All,

First time poster. I’m trying to repair a stripped hand guard screw on a Husqvanra 455. For reference, that’s their part# 537296501. The plastic crankcase screw hole is stripped out and won’t hold the screw securely. I had thought to buy brass hot melt insert or make an insert on the lathe with a tap, but it’s apparently not an available size. Anywhere. And I buy oddball threading tools fairly regularly.

Any ideas on how to do this repair appreciated…

Melt weed trimmer line into the hole and make sure it’s attached to the sides of the hole. Redrill to a size that works for your screw

Tip:

On a Still AV mount hole in the tank it’s possible to install a 5 x .8 Helicoil and just use a machine screw. The plastic is tuff !
