anyone happen to know what the lightest weight 18" 3/8" bar would be for a 262? And where one might purchase said bar?:) Gauge doesn't much matter to me.

My guess would be a laminated bar.
You looking for light weight or longevity?

This. The lightest bar available will be a "homeowner" laminated bar, the lightest quality bar available will probably be a Tsumura Light and Tough.

Price wise, look into forester bars or China gb.
You can pick them up cheap. I believe there was a store on the west coast running a special.
I'll have to look to confirm.

My forester and gb bars are not light.
I have some of the older gb bars that are souls bars, great quality and seem to have heat wear in the rails, do you know if there still being made and where?

I have a 18" sugi hara on my 262 and it balances nicely a touch back to the handle.
Not sure it is the lightest but I like it.
It will likely be heavier than a skinny 325 laminate bar
I like it tho
