Hoping someone in the know can school this newbie on LED work lights and light bars.

I have heard "CREE" chips are the best.

Are all the eBay and amazon chaiwanese LED lights basically the same? Is there one brand or seller that offers the most bang for the buck?

I want to put a 35w +/- LED flood light on my snowblower as the halogen burnt out.

If that project goes well, I plan to outfit my mower. Then, I will be looking to add a light bar on my snowplow.

Any experiences you can share would be appreciated!

This is my most complicated LED build to date. The mirror is in my wife's salon. I blasted it from the back with Aluminum Oxide and Super Bright LED company provided me with all components and even gave me a print to go by to assemble the circuitry.
You will love this company!image.jpeg

As far as work lights go, I buy them from NAPA. We have an account there and get them at a decent price. I have a small light bar from Tractor Supply that seems to be holding up well. I also have the small oval lights from Northern Tool as back up lights on my trucks. They have held up through mud, rocks, rain, etc for about 3 years now. I plan on mounting a single one to my BCS two wheeled tractor this week.

That's some nice craftsmanship. What did you use of a stencil to protect the parts of the mirror you did not want to expose?

Thanks!
Rapid mask. It is a 6mm rubber with adhesive on back. It will even hold up to sand and silica blasting. Here are some SS elevator doors I used it on.image.jpeg

I have this 18w on my warrior. Its very nice and super bright. I did add silicone caulk to the seams and outer edge of the lens before use because i read reviews of water intrusion ruining the bulbs/boards.

I could run 2 of those and light up the night!

Seems most have a clear lens, even though they are labeled floods. I see the reflectors are different...do they scatter the light well? I don't want a spotlight.

A local retired guy has taken up LED lighting consulting in our area. When we built the upstairs to our house we got all our LED lights from him. The one thing he said was to always look for CREE components, whether they were house or auto lighting.

I bought these recently.

Haven't installed them, but the units seem to be well built. There's a chance I'll get them on this week. I'll be happy to report back. There's lots of good threads on tractorbynet about adding LEDs to tractors. I'm putting 4 of these on each of my two tractors. The reports are that even 2 of these facing forward are a substantial upgrade over stock headlights.

You will see some LED lights with a single source that are very bright, replacing those halogen lights that get really hot and break.

You will see many less expensive LED lights with a number of diodes that put out a much dimmer, more diffuse light.

I have started to replace my 120v halogen work lights with the first. I have an Oregon 40v version that runs off the same Li-ion battery as my chainsaw - replaces a Coleman lantern (minus the 'hiss').

No substitute for turning one 'on', but you can look for the rated output in lumens when comparing options.

Saw a battery powered one at Menard's today. Here is a photo of my Oregon 40V work light, alongside a conventional 120V halogen work light; a compact 120V halogen; and a hand held, battery powered LED flashlight. Note that the LED's are all single source ('single element'? not sure what the correct terminology is).

It was so bright that I played around with making colored filters for it, out of scrap plexiglass, milk jugs, Tupperware, etc., to use for camping, etc.
