Wondering if anyone had it or knows someone who did. I have a friend in Tennessee who has a mystery ailment and they cannot diagnose it! I wonder if Lyme disease can escape definite diagnosis? She thinks it's her problem. The live on a couple of wooded acres, plus, have several dogs that are always roaming and live in the house. The docs have suspected Multiple Sclerosis but keep ruling it out.

It has affected her gait so bad that she uses a walker. Her speech even slurs. It's got so bad, she had to retire from schoolteaching! Whatever it is, it's not good. And worsening.

It's horrible, and yes there is no sure test for it. 2 doctors can look at same results and have opposite opinions as to whether you have it or not. Once you've had it, no test can show if you got rid of it, or if you have contracted it again.
I have been battling it for years, it is a bear. At least a third of those who get it never present with the bullseye rash. If you catch it quick, you can likely hammer it out with the standard 30 days of doxy docs prescribe. If, on the other hand, you have had it for some time you will need major abx and likely for a long time. I am on the winter abx regimen right now.
Good luck, feel free to pm.

Oh, btw, I had an early misdiagnosis of MS also. I have been on major antibiotics for a couple of years now. The good news, is after being on high dose for a short while, my symptoms drastically improved. This past holiday season, I took myself off the antibiotics as they were wreaking havoc on my stomach, etc. Two weeks later, my excruciating joint pain returned.

Also look into Herbal remedies guys.Your body doesn't build a resistance to Herbs like prescription drugs.look into Bee propilus as a natural antibiotic,Turmeric as an anti inflammatory,Ginseng for energy.etc.etc.

There certainly are a lot of people who go that route, Jughead. To each their own, for sure, and I believe much of the naturopathic remedies are likely excellent. That said, I am in the camp of let's try to kill those little bastards, & I don't care if I have to bombard myself with antibiotics, and suffer the consequences temporarily, to do it. Very personal decision, how you proceed with caring for bad diseases, etc. Need to find the right way for you. Again, good luck.

Very true.not against prescribed drugs at all.was on rounds of prednisone a while back for sciatic trouble.that was nasty.lol $400 worth of groceries in 12 days plus trips to burger king and taco bell.what was worse was the diclofenac.i thought i was going to bleed to death on that stuff.if i'd gotten cut bad while working it could have been a bad situation.

It's an epidemic, no question. Affects people in a vast variety of ways. I'm not convinced you can ever be truly rid of it, but I'm hoping you can keep it at bay, perhaps have lengthy periods of remission where one only actively treats the occasional outbreak. I hope...

One of the *s-wordiest parts, especially when you don't have a known onset timeframe, is you really don't know which of your ailments/symptoms you can blame on the disease, and what might be something altogether different. For example, it was excruciating joint pain that got me on the coarse to diagnosis. However, the terrible pain I have had in back and knees for years. Might be that's related to lyme or co-infections, might be genetics, might be aging body that has been battered. Who knows? Once you have Lyme, everything that comes up that is different get's immediately placed in the possible Lyme-related file.

Anyway, nobody ever said life was going to be easy. At least they never told me that. So I think you strive for what you can, accept and deal with the rest. May never be a cure, but might be a reliable vaccination someday.

My daughter has it. Has since she was around 12. Her mother noticed
something with her knee and took her to the doc's. Caught it at a very
early stage but she still has a flair up every now and them. She's 29 now
and will have it for life. There is no cure that i'm aware of.

Sorry to hear about y'all's struggles, sounds like a bad deal. Can i get it from store-bought lime juice, or only from the lime itself?
