This similar to a 288 husky? 88cc and whatnot? I may have asked this on AS, I've been scouring everywhere trying to learn and find a large cc saw.

Sort of. The newer updated version with all spring AV, inboard clutch, and air injection.

I was doing some reading, outboard better for milling due to less heat? So like a 395? I'm sure this saw would do great and seems very reasonable compared to the 660 I have been seeing.

It keeps some heat out of the case. How big of a mill and how much are you wanting to do? If it's maybe 50 bd ft or so here and there I would get the 2188 and not look back. If you want to use a 42-50" then you need a 395 minimum.

Well in a dream world I want to mill some thin stuff for decoration on walls, maybe furniture. But in reality and the near future I want to mill timbers for a porch. I'm not familiar with board feet as I know it depends on thickness and width when it's figured. But basically looking at some trees on my property, I have a lot of black walnut 14"-~35" diameters, ash/poplar/cherry up to ~30", and one massive maple that's probable pushing 50". I haven't put a tape to any, and the majority would be done when I build a bandsaw mill. But for the time being, timbers out of ash or poplar would be the focus.

I've used them to mill with 36" bars and a 30" mill. It gives you 27" of cut width. I did use an aux oiler. Sounds like you would be fine with it and a band ill.

Our ventilation saws were Jreds. 2172 I think under Cutters Edge label with Bullet Carbide chains and big ass filters.
