Compression is a nice "gauge" of the condition the piston/rings, but as others have stated its only a gauge. I've ran some great running 372's that only made 145-150, and my gauge is very accurate, pull the muffler because I was concerned and all was well and they all continued to run great.

No longer on hold. Changed the valve in my compression tester and that was the problem. The compression now is a little over 195psi.
