John Deere gator

Got a guy out here in Idaho who has a Diesel gator that is hard to start. He would like me to fix it. I don't charge people here to fix there stuff. Just trying to be a good neighbor. Is there anyone here who has any experience with these Gators and can help me. He said he has to hit it with ether to get it to start in the morning. I don't have the gator yet but it will be here soon.

I'd check the normal hard start diesel stuff. Make sure it's cranking ok and check the glow plugs if equipped. I'd also check the fuel filters, air filter and make sure they're all ok. Other than that I don't have much diesel experience.

Is it only hard to start cold?

Once you get this unit and can give us more detailed information we can get this tackled.

Sounds like the glow plugs are not cycling. Will help when more troubleshooting info available.

Sounds like the glow plugs . If not might just plain be to worn and compression is to low kick it off cold . If he's needing ether it's a bad sign .
