Jesse sent the saw to IH because he thought the saw was tired and needed freshening. He told IH that he thought the coil was bad also. IH told him it would be around $400 but wouldn't know till he got in the saw. He pulled the top off on his YT show and I really didn't think it looked that bad and IH stated the same thing. Later he told Jesse the cylinder was out of round and it would be $600 for the build. Jesse never had a saw built before and just thought it was business as usual. He got the saw back and it ran terrible. I ran the saw also so this is first hand information. Terrible compression and still the electrical issue. Not really sure why a saw builder wouldn't take care of the problem. Even a good porting job isn't gonna run right with electrical issues. Jesse called IH and gave him the opportunity to make it right. IH response to the low compression was, well your not running a McCullough and you knew it had a bad coil. Jesse got the saw to me to take apart. I put a compression tester on it 135. I was getting ready to take the top off to inspect but thought I better get someone that is well respected in the forum and you tube field lol. I will not out him because it's not my place to do that. We took the top off and the porting was not of good quality at all. I have experience with very good porting jobs I owned 2 of Randy's jobs and a Mike Lee 385 top. The piston was scored and for me the exhaust was raised too much. The Hyway top was a base gasket delete and still had .41 squish. Jesse only cut down 3 trees and I cut 4 blocks. Even a dumb logger like me knew it wasn't what it should have been.
I had a good used top so I honed it we put new rings and I put my muffler on it. Also base gasket delete. She had 170psi. The next morning I found that the switch was bad so I had a used one, put it on and Jesse is able to work. IMHO $600 is too much money for the minimal sloppy porting and AM top is just not acceptable at that price. There are other things I did not like about the build but that's just things I have a problem with but that might just be me. We tried to look for the blame somewhere else and wanted to give IH the benefit of the doubt. Never met the guy and wasn't out to hurt anyone. This was all brought on by him as far as I'm concerned.

I hate to be negative but I HIGHLY DOUBT anyone on this side of the fence will ever see that MMWS jug again...

It will get misplaced or lost in the mail or something or a POS will get subbed for it and sent back because old Tin Donkey will never send proof that his initial diagnosis of "out of round cylinder" was out and out horseshit

Just my 2 cents worth

Nothing IH says makes any sense at all like the he builds saw's for loggers only. The way he words it is like he's saying loggers are fine with a saw down on power from stock and it's reliability compromised after he's been in it? WTF

It'll probably be passed on to another customer as his own work.

Someone stated that he honed the cylinder when he got it back
that wouldnt surprise me Rick, after all he took the time to polish the piston up a bit before he went online.
I hope he took the time to fix up his lousy bewel work, but who knows with that clown

Or studied and used as a template for future work

Although he could have the Holy Grail in front of him and if he tried to duplicate it it would come out looking like a Dixie Cup because he has all the skills of a brain damaged sloth

Edited to add, apologies to all you sloths out there...

Im curious how many loggers are actually running ironhack saws. We know he's a liar, hack, manipulator and master car salesman so im willing to bet its not as many as he says

I saw Yank Doodle’s saw run at Buckinstock. I didn’t personally run it but it seemed pretty salty. So that’s one out of......? I also saw Yank posted a video the last couple days about his IH saw being a beast. If memory serves it’s a dominant piston and I don’t recall what he did for port work.

Jereme Bell had some saws there that seemed really salty as well.

Salty mean they ran good or poor?
