I have no doubt and may catch some flack, but this one is pretty clear cut in my book. What often happens is only bits and pieces of what I and others have said will make the rounds in an attempt to vilify. These people are the lowest of the low, I hope Marshy is not part of that as I have always thought well of him overall. For better or worse I'm too am much like Randy I have little to no room for any gray area.

Yeah haha, I went through the other thread this morning. WOW! Guess I have a masochistic side.

My Initial hunch seems to have been accurate unfortunately.

I will still say BBR is a good dude, he does go out of his way to help others as best he can, even offered to help me with something, but I told him I was good.

I see it like this. Billy may be just trying to promote this goof to help him out, I honestly can see him doing that. Problem is this guy could wind up hurting him and his family in the long run. Don't care for the way some acted around Billy when I was there, but vast majority of people were guys like us just hanging out having a good time. At Buckinstock Billy went around talking with people, gave a lot of instructions on chain sharpening. The demonstrations on felling techniques was totally legit, awesome really. Yes he is making money off of YT he doesn't hide that one bit, yes he has become more commercial, but that is to be expected I have no issue with that.

Last but not least Marshy you know better brother, and yes I still like Billy and I know you do, because of this you should actually be protecting him from fools like IH and letting him know he's a complete hack, and seems to be at least somewhat dishonest. Again I believe you know better deep down. Man you know I want to be wrong, but it's just too obvious. I hope you take this to hart if you're still watching.

I've been wondering for sometime just why people put themselves out there on youtube. My more cynical self thought there might be a moneymaking aspect to it, but I just don't understand how?

The money aspect of it is the main reason. How they make it is through the adverts youtube places throughout the videos, so the more views with ads playing the more money each video generates for both youtube/google and the creator of said video. There are some creators who are not monetised, meaning they don't get paid for their videos but the majority do. There are People on there who make a couple of million $$$$ a year from their videos.

Basically advertising companies pay youtube to show their ads on youtube videos. If ads appear on your videos, youtube gives you some of the money, albeit a very small amount.
You need 1000 subscribers and 10,000 overall views to be able to monetize your channel.
It is very easy to get demonetized these days, and also easier to get banned or censored.

YT Ad Revenue, merchandise and sponsorships. It all brings in money.

I actually really like YT, it gives everyday people a voice, sometimes a powerful one, without the influence of big business. But with the good there's always bad, this is where common sense comes in. Sadly it seems like this is becoming a rare gift.

Anyone any way controversial or who goes against the mainstream agenda gets booted off or shadowbanned.
Youtube is no longer a platform to "broadcast yourself" like it was in 2005. Its way more commercialised. Soon it will just be a TV station but on the internet.

You are correct. And new bipartisan Congressional rules are squashing things even more, as they don't want the average Joe to make anything or spread the truth.

There's a post on Chainsaws Australia on farcebook about it that I started about the crap work he did, I refrained from naming the guy at first to try and avoid litigious twats but once someone else named him on the post I decided *f-word it and put his actual name out there as well.
