I give up..... What is this?

First post on this forum, but I use the same name on (another)site.

I've googled myself silly on this thing and I can't find anything that looks close. It appears to have a Ohlsson & Rice engine? I bought it from a coworker who got it at an auction, so I have zero history on it. Any info is appreciated

Ohlsson & Rice- I would say yes. Orline was the main manufacturer that used those engines but that doesn't look like any Orline I've ever seen, but I've not seen many.

That is one trick muffler though. Did you call Wallace Saw Sales?

No, I haven't gotten that serious yet

I really can't find any info on Wallace Saw Sales either. There was a Jd Wallace Co in Chicago that made electric woodworking tools but it appears to be defunct too.

The O&R engines were used on a LOT of different machines made by many companies.

Looks like Wallace had some castings made up to put an O & R engine in and configured the intake and exhaust to fit their design. Good conversation piece. They may not have been distributed very far from the local area since Chicago would have been a good customer base to start with to see how they would sell. The exhaust tube going though the rear handle opening might have been a sales quencher.

That's what the plan is for now. It is missing the air filter, so that should be fun to find, considering I don't have a clue what it's supposed to look like

O&R used rubber ball for pull handles.

Quire a few older saws used a ball knob for a starter handle, look at most of the old Titan models for example.



I haven't run across a Wallace but I have seen a few O&R saws.

Not the most ergonomic thing ever. Combined with no AV and scorching hot exhaust 1/2" from your knuckles and we have a winner.
