Hi guys, Needing some service info on a pressure tap location for checking engine oil pressure. Momma's truck has the notorious flickering warning light. I know where the sensor is in the V under the intake. Problem is the fuel system and upper and lower intakes need removed to access. There has to be a port somewhere on this engine to do a running pressure check with a gauge. Any help would be appreciated. Thx. TimG.

What year Tim?
All I can find in my aftermarket service info is a 3.3 engine, just guessing on years.

If its anything like GM, you either use an adapter that screws on in place of the oil filter or at the oil pressure sensor. GM has no oil pressure taps on any of their engines.

Likely Steve will know off the top of his head.

Edit, found a 3.5 listed under 2004 model. No oil test procedure I can find other than remove oil sender, install guage and rotate engine..

The sender for the 3.3 should be on the oil filter cannister on the top of the engine. Take the plastic engine cover off and it should be fairly easy to locate.

Make sure to check it hot at idle. Let it run till the fans cycle a few times till you get an accurate reading. Have had a few toyotas and a ton of the MDS hemis that will be under spec but not till you get them good and warm.

Thanks for that Steve. My engine is the 3.5 in a 2011. Looking for a pressure tap area to do some checks while running. I've been on Hyundai Forum looking for info. The question has been brought up but no answers. Thank you and Ed for the effort. I'll keep digging. The oil filter is on top and is a plastic canister type.

Sorry Tim. I thought you had the 3.3. I did not see any oil galley plugs on any of the engines in the pictures I looked up. I'll keep digging!

Hey Steve, Don't spend any time on it. I'm taking Ed's advice on the oil filter thought. Gonna go to the dealer tomm. and check on service tooling or a spare canister and drill and tap it out possibly. I thank both you guys for your genuine desire to help for sure. You got any Komatsu questions or whatever send em my way. Thanks, TimG.

No, But I've only had it since June and it only had 20k miles. Flew up to Wisconsin and drove her home. My other 2012 had 85k and never an issue with the engine. Liked the 3.5 vs. the newer 3.3. So no service history, no noises, leaking pressure sensor, but intermittent light so she says. I can't start or piss rev without a gauge right now for my own sanity. It ain't no damn chainsaw LOL!! I feel better already sorry for the lengthy answer Wayne. Just venting.

Had a brain fart Tim. Can you tap into the oil temp sensor? There should be full oil pressure there. It's "C" on the picture.
