Husqvarna 3120XP Cylinder Issue

Hi all. Just looking for insight on the cylinder walls of this 3120XP, they look strange... It's a recent saw (2022) and the original owner claims he only ran Husky canned fuel in it, maybe 4-5 tanks or so in total. Won't seem to do more than 10K rpm when pinned. Couldn't get it to go over 115 PSI on compression test but at that point I simply couldn't pull it over any more, maybe it needs somebody stronger, lol.

The 3120's still have the rev-limited ignition and the fixed high jet carb. I don't think they have much for compression stock either....like 130-135.

I can't help on the cylinder wall, but if you put an unlimited coil from a husky 272 on it and have someone, like @huskihl, add an adjustable jet to the carb, that saw will come to life. Oh and a muffler mod doesn't hurt either. I had Kevin do a couple for me.

Something like 12-12.5k on the early models. 9.8k on current models

that does look pretty wacky…all original? sometimes pics can be weird but that looks like somebody ball honed the piss out of it.

Well, I can't say for sure but it looks to be original and it's a 2022 model, receipt shows that it was purchased March 2023. I was told that it's seen very little use (which does appear to be the case) and that it's only seen Husqvarna-brand canned fuel, maybe 4-5 tanks. That's what I know...

I can't say what causes that look, but I've seen plating in a few jugs that look like that. New, heavily used, it doesn't seem to make a difference but I just run it. I think 1 or 2 folks on here said it wasn't indicative of an issue so I never worried too much.

Yeah, I was kind of entertaining the notion that it might be normal but I was hoping somebody far more knowledgeable than myself could confirm/verify that...

If you’re concerned about it, you need to remove the cylinder and look up inside it with natural light. It’s impossible to diagnose something with a small bore camera and light
