I have for sale a Husqvarna 285CD. Saw is a 85cc beast. Cranks, runs, oils. Just rebuilt the carb. Has great compression, I will post pictures of the numbers tomorrow. $275 PHO plus shipping and any fees.

The bad:
Has a fuel leak at the tank vent I think. I can't quite see it above the fuel cap
And one of the top cover screws stripped out and precious owner drilled it and put a helicoil in but it came out.0602172045.jpg 0602172045a.jpg 0602172045b.jpg 0602172046.jpg 0602172047.jpg

Sorry to hear that Georgiaval. Good looking saw for its age. Excellent deal too compared to the others ive seen. Thats where Im at on my 285cd build. Air leak, turned out to be the flywheel side crank seal.

Not exactly. It started as a junk saw purchased several years ago. Finally got around to rebuilding it this year. New seals bearings, piston, cylnder etc. It hasnt run correctly yet....not quite finished with it. I installed one of the seals bakwards, removed it and installed it the correct way, but its a bit distorted now...completely my fault...Anyway, yea with the seal gone out the saw runs like 7-8,000 rpms or so. Thats at idle!

Might be worthwhile to check out my "husqvrna 285cd" build thread. not so much to follow the build but there are several guys with 285,298,2100,2101 experiance that have been helping me out. These guys have mentioned the plastic intake carb to cyl adaptor being prone to warping, cracking, leaking. Also the carb governor appears to cause problems as well(large brass plug near choke lever). Ill bet they have the right answers for you.
