I have a nice 272xp for sale. I bought it from a guy who bought it from the Wyoming State Forestry Division. Their initials are engraved in the top cover. I was told this was probably used by a chain gang crew for thinning lol.

When I got it in, I replaced crank seals, oil pump/seal carrier O-ring, intake gaskets, rebuilt the carb, fuel filter, opened up the muffler port a bit, and replaced the piston ring. It has the HD filter setup inside. I also sourced a nice starter cover and decal to replace the busted one that was on it, and put a new decal on the clutch cover as well. Overall, the saw is in very nice and clean shape.

I don't want to sell this saw, but I have to thin the collection down. So how about $650+shipping PHO?

I have one of these that is a rebuilt from the bearings up dump find, it has turned out to be my most favorite saw, good weight/power/balance ratio. I am sorry for you it has to be one of the ones that must go!

They are zippy and durable for sure. For those reading: am I off on this price? I see them locally for more or similar prices in worse shape, but past ones sold on the forum have been less.
I think it is a fair price for a 72cc saw that has been around for a while and has plenty of OEM and AM parts available. Yours is in really good shape compared to mine.

Trade for some port work? I want to get my 064 or my 562 hopped up. Maybe I'd keep my 5105 if it was ported, too...

Pulling off the market. I like it too much.
My wife will have to sell my 272 after I die, if she goes first, then my kids will have to do it! I will have to leave instruction for them to post here on the forum!!

272s are great saws and very underrated. Even though they don't have the latest antivibe and no Autotune, they're great tools that will get it done everyday. With a little machining and porting, they come alive.

The first saw I ever bought from Rich Dugan was a 272 full wrap. It had a 32 inch bar and .404 chain. I have no idea who thought that was a good combo but I pulled the 32 and put a 20 with 3/8. I still have the sae

The 272 was my first saw that I split the case to replace the bearings, it was a great learning experience!!
