Yes the halves separate and there is a plate inside with meshed holes and 2 tubes that the muffler studs pass through.

I've bead blasted it and wrinsed so some light surface rust. Needs paint.

Well that's exactly the right muffler but I am hoping to find one with the original finish still in very good condition. I will keep your muffler in mind if my search comes up empty. Thanks for taking the time
