I'm putting a new cylinder and piston on my 385. Any opinion of whether I should get the Hyway or Meteor?

TIA,
Milan

+2 like Tim said oem, if it's worth rebuilding, do it right the first time.

I can't speak for meteor cylinders, but Hyway jugs are gonna cost a lot more than OEM if you run the saw much at all. The plating doesn't seem to hold up very well.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm not seeing 385 pistons for sale. Am I missing them?

Just did a 390 hyway titanickel with caber rings on my 2186. See how it holds up.

What are the cost of the Hyway and Meteor kits? All the Husqvarna cylinder kits I have bought have been very reasonable.

Wolf creek has them for around a $100.

Still not worth the money difference imho. Yay you have a hyway. I'll stick to my oem.......
If you had no options on an obsolete saw than maybe. But even then I would exhaust my efforts for used oem etc.

Plating peeling on 3-372 cylinders at exhaust port (guys wanting rebuild done on the cheap). Refuse to use Hyway, do it right first time, you will forget about crying and money spent soon enough. Or set it aside and wait until funds allow for oem rebuild. Not my money, just my opinion. Hope your rebuild goes well.
