HUSQVARNA Husky 390 replacement cylinder Meteor or Hyway

I'm putting a new cylinder and piston on my 385. Any opinion of whether I should get the Hyway or Meteor?

I see the prices are up a bit on line for an OEM set. OP, I have a new OEM 54mm set I could let go for not much more than Meteor money. PM me if interested.

I can't speak for meteor cylinders, but Hyway jugs are gonna cost a lot more than OEM if you run the saw much at all. The plating doesn't seem to hold up very well.

Meteor makes 385 pistons-54mm and caber rings and imo they are good

Just grab that new OEM from Tim and do it right. Why are you replacing it? Needs new bearings, seal, gaskets, air leak, bad carb boot? Don't keep us in suspense.

If it makes it past 20 tanks before the plating starts flaking off, you will have exceeded my experience with Hyway.

Not sure on the meteor jugs as I haven’t used one. There may be others on here who have that could answer that. Hopefully you have better luck than I did.

In addition to the poor plating and bevels, aftermarket cylinders rarely run as strong. I wouldn’t want to carry around a 390 that only had the power of a 372

Still not worth the money difference imho. Yay you have a hyway. I'll stick to my oem.......
If you had no options on an obsolete saw than maybe. But even then I would exhaust my efforts for used oem etc.

Plating peeling on 3-372 cylinders at exhaust port (guys wanting rebuild done on the cheap). Refuse to use Hyway, do it right first time, you will forget about crying and money spent soon enough. Or set it aside and wait until funds allow for oem rebuild. Not my money, just my opinion. Hope your rebuild goes well.
