I’m working on a very low hour husky 257 for a guy I work with and it needs all the av mounts so wondering are they even available anymore? I did see some used ones on eBay but really not into 20-30 year old av buffers if I can help it. Saw was brought to me to look at because his brother was cutting and he said it got hot and acted like it was running out of gas. I assumed it was blown but when I pulled the muffler it was mint inside so then I looked and found all the busted mounts and can only assume he pinched a fuel line and stalled it.

I haven't looked at the IPLs for a while but I think some of the mounts may be the same as the 51/55 mounts.

Ok I’ll do some digging but ham fisted with a dull chain reefing on the back handle is hard on stuff

Should be the same as a 55 and I may even have new ones. I'll look when I get home and report back.

Picked up these for a work 257. Just checked, seller doesn’t have any listed.

I think so too. I think it's the same rear handle too but can't remember for sure.

The buffers are available in hard or soft rubber for different cutting feel.
Part number for soft is 501867001.
Part number for hard is 501867002.
Both are available OEM for about $10 each on eBay or from a Husqvarna dealer.
On my personal 254 or 257 rebuilds I replace the rubber AV handle with a spring AV handle from a 262XP or 261 in order to reduce the vibes.
The 261 handles are usually in better condition because they are newer than the 262XP and do not have the small storage area built into them like the 262XP handles have.
Although NLA, they can always be located in good used condition with buffers attached. Probably many forum members have some setting around.
This is a direct bolt on substitution for the OEM 257 handle.
I suppose it comes down to a personal decision how much vibration a guy wants to deal with.

Thanks and not my saw and it hardly gets used, the guy at work uses it for a saw at the cabin and only if a tree falls down. Last time it sat so long I needed a fuel system cleaning from sitting 2-3 years. They should really have a battery one for what he needs
