Looking for someone who re-does / re stores the "plastics" on saws. I have seen some folks that have had theirs re-done, and they were not just painted.
Any one on here do this?

Dying plastics is really easy using full synthetic Rit dye. It'll make faded OEM plastic look good as new. Cheap too.

Dying a set of really faded plastics will help but if they have a real rough surface they still will, lots will wet sand them then use rubbing compound and re dye them. Some say heat will smooth them back out also and fix the chalky look.

I know nothing about the process so it would be nice to hear how it works.

It's stupid easy. Heat water to 150 or so, exact temp doesn't matter. Add dye, maybe a whole bottle to a couple gallons, half to a gallon. Again doesn't matter. Drop clean plastic in for a few minutes. Time doesn't really matter. Just be sure you get the best color match you can.

I was worried about getting it dark enough and over did it a little. I believe apricot is the color I used.

Regular old rit will work on chainsaws plastics also, add some white vinegar too the blend and actually the warmer the better for the dye solution to a point. I try to keep in the 190-200 range.

I recall @Stump Shot and a saw that the plastics got hydrodipped. Don't remember any other details other than I recall it looked good.
Did one hydro dip for myself on my 365 Special and a couple few more for other folks, besides the dyeing black that I'm all set up for as well.
