I've only seen one HD 5 and it was junk .The guy wanted too dang much for scrap iron,I passed .He also had an HD 20 broke down in the middle of a soy bean field that would have taken a Cat D8 to pull out .

This one is awesome, I have had it for over10 years with no issues whatsoever.
Probably one of the best investments for my little 5.5 acres. I have moved some big rock with this little girl

My uncle was a big allis fan and had a couple dozers and from what I saw with his is they should have stuck with tractors. He had and hd10 cable and an hd11 with a garwood blade. Both had Detroit 2 strokes and ran fine but talk about fragile final drives and hard to get parts for because they were all used up for that reason.

You have to love the sound of a Detroit, mine just has a 271 . Guys were putting bigger engines in the hd5s and thats when the drives would snap . This doesn't have a lot of power but I make it work

These were stock as they built them and they were definitely weak in this d-4/5 class, seems that was what pastured the hd 10/11. His both were 4 cylinder i believe and the Detroit diesels are cool for a few minutes and then become annoying to me just like obnoxious piped on a sled ect.

I haven't operated a td 9 , lots of hours on a td20 though. My favorite was the D8k when pushing blast rock though

We have D-10 and 11 at work, if I get bored welding I could probably go down to the pit and run dozer or grader on the mine roads.
