I think he’s apprehensive about doing saws for anybody that works on or does their own “mods” or other tinkering. I know he’s secretive about the work he does on his saws, hence the “zip kit” code names and flow tricks and “ss” designation he uses to designate some sort of combustion chamber work. He doesn’t want anybody opening up a saw he’s ported and finding the numbers or port shapes or whatever.

I corresponded with him about a year and a half ago about porting a 661 for me. Yes he is “cautious” about who he ports for, I think partly, he does not want to be a slave to his work bench porting in all his free time. He’s a faller not a full time mechanic.

We went back and forth via email and then I never heard back from him and a bit later he posted his last YT video in awhile. So I have no issues with him, I reached out to him, he’s not advertising “porting services”. Everyone has their quirks but Jack Beelar has earned his status or whatever you want to call it by being a faller for as long as he has been doing it without getting seriously hurt or killed. His videos are priceless.

The 461 is really a piece of mechanical art in the hands. It’s just magic. There is instant throttle response and we went with an unlimited coil so you get what you want. It’s a real bull but will run all day long. Just have to keep a sharp chain. I’m getting a little old for it these days so I only “drive it to church on Sunday”. The 362 is getting the bulk of the work which is nothing to snort about. Definitely enough saw for a firewood and most falling jobs in young forest (my guess since I’m mainly a firewood cutter).
