I used the regular circlips not the g ones. They seem to be larger diameter wire than stock; still a *b-word to get on!

It's back together! Everything went back together as it should, no problems with the exception of a bad gas line. Went ahead and replaced the gas line and the filter. Disassembled and cleaned the carburetor, and reset the high and low speed screws. Out to the garage so that I could put some gas in it and give it a few pulls. It coughed on the fourth pull and started on the fifth. After a few minutes of warming up and blipping the throttle, I was able to dial-in the carburetor. It idled nicely and revved fairly well. I let it run for three or four minutes giving it a little bit of gas every 10 to 15 seconds. No funky noises, everything sounds normal.

Shut it down, drained the gas and back down to the basement. Took out the plug; it looked dark gray but I set the carburetor a little on the rich side. I put the compression tester on it and pulled it through a dozen times. Wasn't really excited about the results; only 110 psi. Disappointing. I'm hoping it just needs to run in a little and let the rings set. We'll see. I'm going to save the OEM cylinder just in case this one doesn't work out. I've already got a meteor piston to go with it.

I didn't have a spare bar to put on it, going to pick one up Monday morning. More of an update then.
