What I mean about everything being the same is I use my 28 stihl light bar on my 372 and my 046. Both with the same exact chain type stihl rapid full comp .50 gauge and the same drum sprocket yet the 372 needs 2 extra links.Different bar profiles require different DL’s. I had a hard time explaining this to a guy I built an 026 for. He went and got a .325 chain for it based upon the 16” bar he used on his MS250. I kept trying to explain to him that they were different bar mounts and took different DL’s, even though they were both listed as “16 inch” bars. He finally got it.
At least for the 72 DL 20” bars, the Husky bars are narrower than the Stihl ones. That’s how they both take the same chain.
I totally get the trying to explain something saw related to someone. And it goes over there head. I have a buddy who has been having a hard time grasping OEM 372 OE, aftermarket 372 OE , OEM 372 xtorq as well as aftermarket. What really through a wrench at him was when I explained xtorq cylinder can't fit on the OE case but the OE cylinder can fit on the xtorq case. And the hd-12 will not work on xtorq but the rwj-4 will work on an OE with 390 boot and mount.
Funny thing about you mentioning 026. This same guy I built a 260pro for and I downed it to a 18 inch .325 bar and chain. Lol it's a feisty litter *f-worder
