What are some of your more powerful models? For a long time my 270 was the highest power firearm that I owned. Then I bought a Henry 45-70 and got the high power bug. Still have the Henry but have since added a Browning 1885 High Wall 45-70 and a Ruger M77 Hawkeye African 35 Whelen.

The Henry with the aforementioned 270, a Remington Model 710.

The Browning with an Uberti 1873 357 Magnum and an Uberti 1860 44-40.

The Ruger, have not fired it yet, planning to do so Saturday after work.

My 50 caliber knight inline muzzleloader launches the most lead at a time. 270, 308 are my highest power rifles. Actually my 12gages launch a mean slug too. If what I have won't kill it, nothing else I could buy would either. We are limited to .5" as anything above that is a destructive device, according to our federal overlords. Lol

Do you handload 45-70 rounds? Supposedly you can load them past 4,000 lb-ft muzzle energy, but factory loads are light so they don't blow up old guns.
I had a guy load me some.i don't remember how much he put in them but they were some mean s.o.b.s

Ruger M77 MKII .300 Win Mag.
I had a 700 bdl in 300wm. Shot it so much I developed a flinch. Sold it, and I regret it to this day. Took a few years to get rid of the flinch. I was a lot lighter 33 years ago. Shot one recently, can't understand developing a flinch.

Pawn shop score, Remington 700 BDL in 7mm Remington Magnum with a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10X50. Pretty much paid what the glass was worth and got the rifle for free.

If I am on my game it will just about put four through the same hole at 100 yards.

I always forget about my muzzleloaders (don't shoot them anywhere near enough). I have a .50 caliber that I snagged dirt cheap to hunt with and ironically have not been in the woods since (don't even remember what brand it is) and a .54 caliber Hawken that my Uncle built from a kit in the early 80's when he was stationed in Alaska as a Coast Guard rescue diver.

What about high power hand guns as well? Dad has a beautiful early Smith and Wesson Model 29 .44 Magnum with a 4 inch barrel, boy is that thing a handful! I have an Interarms Virginian Dragoon .44 Magnum that I got from a late friend. Honestly I put it in the safe and haven't touched it since.

Also have a Savage 110 30-06 that's a tack driver with hand loads. Have the new AR10 in .308 too. Handgun is a Taurus Raging Bull in .44 Mag.

Few years back, I had necked up a 9.3x62 Mauser to accept .410 350 grain Swift A-frames. The wildcat was housed in a browning 95. Original 30-06 barrel bored out to .410 bore and chopped to 20.

Affixing a custom scout rail with 8-30 screws, topped it off with a 2.75 fixed scout. With 200 yard zero, she hit 11 inches low at 300.

This was no fkn 45-70. These loads were around 55,000 psi with the 350 grainers clocking 2300 fps.

It worked, very well. Like anchored, in one shot:

I do not hand load yet, but it is something that I am considering. Honestly though Hornady LeverEvolution is pretty spicy out of the box.

PA Dan if you're interested and because you live in PA. I am actually going to off loading quite a few rifles & handguns if you would like to come look at to purchase. I have a local class 3 FFL guy to do all the transfer work. There's like 40+ rifles & handguns plus ammo. There is a bolt action Ruger 6.5 Creedmoor, Remington 30-06, several unbuilt AR's from 223/5.56, 224, lowers are AERO precision outta Texas, Savage 300 win MAG, and mostly 1911 platform pistols Kimbers, Sig, H&K, Ceink, the one 357MAG Coonan I am going to hold on to. And ALL the handguns have special custom resin pressed wood handles from Costa Rica. (If you wanted) Shoot me a message if you would be interested
