Went and pulled one of the Banjo trash pumps out, to drain a field this morning.

Got it fired on ether, and then nothing.

Swapped plug, spritzed out carb, wired the main jet, etc..
Nothing. Wont even pop on ether.

Check for spark...nothing. wiggle switch, polish up ground contact..nothing.

First trouble I have had with this one in 6 years, or HARD use.

Is there a common ignition gremlin with the GX 160, anyone is aware of?
Dang thing was running fine when it was put up.

They have a low oil alert so check oil. If oil is fine try bypassing the switch by unplugging it and joining the 2 wires if there's 2 or grounding the wire if there is only 1.

Check the valves. Not uncommon for them to loose some compression when sitting with a valve open. Cranking compression won't change due to the decompression that's built in.

Those don't often have ignition problems, low oil switch can sometimes give a issue.
Disconnect the lower wire coming out of the block if you know it's full of oil and se if you get fire.

As others have said check the oil. Make sure it's sitting level.... Sometimes just a little uneven they won't start. Any wires off or cut? I now this is general stuff, but sometimes it's the obvious thing staring you in the face that you miss.

Thanks guys!!!

Tried the low oil gizmo. Nope, still no spark.

Ripped everything down, figuring a bad coil, and found acorns, and the start of a damn mouse nest.
Little bastard chewed plumb through the switch/coil ground wire.

Thanks for the ideas and direction guys!!

Now I have to find the old soldering Iron, and put out another bucket of Rodent blocks.:laser-kill:

Moth balls work well for mice too
