What's a .22 usually weigh? 6lbs 3oz seems a little high and I'm not a good shot already. I'm hoping having a decent gun will help though.

The more a .22 rifle mimics a centerfire the easier it is to shoot accuractly I've found

Me too! The Ruger American Rimfire with 22" barrel and wood stock weighs as much or more than the average center-fire, I've examined them side by side. My Savage Mk. II has a rather thick wood stock and has a nice heft to it also. I don't know if Savage still offers that stock. The Mk. II standard plastic stock is your typical light and flimsy .22 stock.

If you are willing to consider a lever action, I can tell you my Henry H001T with 20" octagonal barrel has about the same weight and feel as my Winchester 94 .30-30. I think it actually weighs more than my Marlin and Rossi .357 lever actions.

I'm going to pass on it too many negative reviews I know that doesn't mean everything

Mostly the only positive reviews were from from the paid gun tubers
These are turkish produced which I don't mind but people have much more positive positive reviews for the also turkish made
But much cheaper winchester xpert
But it's ugly to me.
I'd highly recommend any CZ just solid performance and durability I'm really thinking of getting a new 455 american I have a 30 year old cz 455 training rifle with a cheek rest.
Also any savage will shoot great I've shot the most basic that would literally cut holes at 40yds
They just offer countless versions just look at what you like.
I built a 10/22 from a midway heavy barrel and hogue rubberized stock that was the most accurate semi auto I've had.

At this point I think I'm leaning towards the Tikka t1x hunter. Any particular reason not to buy it? I very much like the wooden stock and the shorter barrel.

I have the short barrel with synthetic stock and it shoots great. I think the wood stock looks better. The short barrel is nice if you are going to use a suppressor.

Mine is just set up for shooting targets. I have a Sightron Sll 36x on it. For a nice cheaper hunting scope you might take a look at the Sig Whiskey 3 3x9, the Sightron S1 3x9 or Hawke. Check cameralandny.com.

I've got a Vortex crossfire ll 2-7x32. I'll put that on it until I upgrad if needed. A .22 is going to have to wait a couple months, I had some unexpected expenses come up that I need to take care of first.

I'll definitely be getting it I just need to take care of some other stuff first. I'll definitely let you all know how I like it when I do.

Simmons .22 Mag is an excellent rimfire scope. I don't know if they still make it, but you should be able to find a really nice one on Fleabay for 50 bux or so. I don't know how much difference it makes in the real world, but centerfire scopes usually have a 100 yard parallax and rimfire scopes usually have 50. Vortex makes a rimfire Diamondback 2-7x35 that looks really nice.

Anybody have a Ruger LCRx? I looked at one at the shop and was impressed. Awesome double action trigger, single action was pretty good. Sights are alot easier to see than most snubbies and the front blade can be replaced. I like how it's an old school gun with all the benefits of modern materials and design, and you know Ruger will take care of you if you have problems.

There was a time I wouldn't recommend Kimber but from all accounts they've really turned around
And are producing excellent pistols.
I have a first year Kimber custom of clackamas Oregon I bought in 1996
It's still excellent and I've shot 1" groups at 20yds with match ammo before
but I shot many that were later made in yonkers New York they had all kinds of manufacturing issues
One the breech face collapsed from soft metal on a .45 compact never seen anything like it.
