Hey guys, I am really enjoying reading all the wealth of information here! It is awesome to have a collective place to share knowledge.

I have found a lot of technical threads that combine information for everyone and really think that a lot of people, especially me, could benefit from having a "guide bar thread".

Please post anything that you think could help, including brand specific part number decoding, downloadable tech bulletins, chicken scratch drawings on napkins from the bar, or even mount types that can be modified to fit something else.

Maybe @Jon1212 can join in with his wealth of knowledge on the subject. And if this takes off the way I hope it does maybe @Mastermind can make it a sticky in the technical section.

Anyways, thanks in advance and I am happy to be part of a forum like this one!

Also I had read that a K095 can be modified to fit a K041 so I looked at them closely and it appears all that is necessary is to elongate the adjuster holes outward toward the rails. Does that make sense? I will try to get a picture and add it here.

Ryan,

Yes, you're correct about modifying an A/K095 for use on an A/K041 mount saw.

Some of the other ones I have modified are D196(9.5mm slot), and Windsor EM/ Oregon D005(9.5mm slot), opened up to 10mm+ to use on saws requiring a D024 like my Olympyk 272F.

I have also modified a few different NOS A176 bars, and turned them into D009 large Husqvarna mounts.

Anyone with a Pioneer that takes the NLA Oregon D007 mount can use a large husky mount D009. The slot has to be opened up .5 mm and the oil holes angled a bit. 10 minutes work with a good file and a carbide burr

This is exactly the sort of information I was hoping to get! Let's keep this going! :campeon:

I've done the same with D176. Some of the older D176 Oregon bars had a narrow tip and that makes it difficult to get enough chain adjustment. I had to go up to an 8 pin to make this one work. I will probably replace the tip to make it work with a 7 pin.

What length bar is that, and what drive link count are you running?

I believe a 20" D176 is meant to run a 70dl chain in an RSN bar. A wider nosed Armor Tip(hard nose) will take a 72dl.

How much did you lengthen the stud slot on the bar?

I have an 8 pin I want to put on my ported 372 to run with a 20".

I didn't lengthen at all just widened it a bit. There's not much room to lengthen it in the rear so I didn't bother. Kinda thought about going to 70dl but that would add to the confusion in my tangled web of chains and it works fine with a 8 pin. The tip on this bar is noticeably narrower than my other Oregon bars of the same type hence my reasoning that a tip change would make it usable with the 7 pin.

Here is a 041 series Oregon 70 DL from a 365 series poulan pro(20D70041) on top of a K095 Sugi, the tail profile is near identical.

works great on a husky small mount, just file the tensioner hole closer to the slot.
