This is what I have:

A 20’ walleye style patrol boat with a below deck 40 gallon tank. We have been fighting water in fuel issues and I found the problem. The sending unit gasket is deteriorated bad. I had to cut a bigger hole in the floor to get it out and check it. It is an odd size and can’t find a gasket or sending unit to replace this one. It is also allowing fuel to spill into the bilge area if you fill the tank over 30 gallons.

SO, would Motoseal work to seal the sending unit?

I know RTV will deteriorate and cause me major issues and possibly fuel in the bilge area as well.

I hate to replace the tank just for this issue, but it is dangerous as it is. I can get a tank from Moeller for $500 shipped. I may try motoseal and leave the plate off so I can keep an eye on things for a while.

I have some stuff at home that is supposed to be good for dealing fuel/gas tanks. I'll let ya know what it is tomorrow morning. I've never used it but I did buy it anticipating that I would need it.

Felpro makes sheets of gasoline rated gasket material, in paper and cork, you can cut whatever size you need. Commonly available at auto parts store.
I thought about that as well.
