Time will tell, but this particular politician obviously wants localities to be able to ban gasoline leaf blowers. Seems as if landscapers would be forced to adapt, which would most likely mean expensive battery powered equipment and ultimately higher prices charged by landscapers. Enjoy your Klotz candles while you can. Give them an inch and you know the rest of the story.....

A few of the northern VA counties full of idiots have banned them. The rich liberals don’t like the noise. The proposed bill will allow jurisdictions with at least 2500 people per square mile to ban them.

The other ignorant thing they’re trying to do is require a yearly personal property tax on lawn equipment. Businesses already pay taxes on them. I guess Governor Ice Queen will send her Troopers out to check mowers since she stopped them from helping ICE catch criminals.

I have a lawn care business and this ignorance will effectively put me out of business. I guess it’s time to move to a common sense state because the northern VA transplants are doing their best to ruin this one. I’ve seen it coming for years but I hoped common sense would win, LOL.

I always thought people out East who have those insane piles of leaves wouldn't have to deal with the bans, at least not until battery technology was much, much better. Admittedly where I typically work in CA a backpack blower is often overkill, but I've watched some videos of guys out East moving massive piles of leaves that we never see out West. If VA is following the CA template then maybe/hopefully they will also offer a version of CA's "CORE voucher program". For a period of at least 1 year professional landscapers/gardeners/maintenance hacks could apply through their local Stihl dealer and once approved there was list of equipment that the state would pay about 66% of the cost. The approval process was easy--it's been a few years but I think all I needed to provide was a business card and my local dealer vouched that I was a professional because I do not have an "official" landscaper's license. I got about $10k worth of equipment for about $3500 or so. Regardless, I still think a leaf blower ban in area with that massive Fall leaf drop is insane. Battery technology just isn't there yet. Different areas need different policies.

I am always disappointed. But when the lawmakers are people who have never had any direct contact with the realities surrounding the laws they make, well, you get irrational and nutty laws. The only thing that delayed the adoption of a leaf blower ban in our county was the fact that the head of maintenance for the county would tell them how much it would cost in extra labor and equipment, but I guess the Stihl AP series changed something. Do we blame Stihl? JK, but not LOL.

And you’ve reached this opinion how? We have much more in common than either of us do with Little DC/NOVA.
First, it's an uphill battle at best. Then, there are many people in West Virginia who think it would be better for those counties to form their own state, thereby creating more senators who would vote red, and finally many West Virginians just don't want "outsiders" potentially swaying their politics.
