I have a JD LT155 with a 14Hp Kohler single on it. The fuel pump was boogered by being left sitting with a BUNCH of water in the fuel. Rust pits in the seat surfaces are seldom a performance enhancer!

The replacement on the entire fuel pump, the local dealer is quoting me around $75 Cdn. Ouch! It is a cam actuated mechanical pump. On essentially, a $200 lawn tractor for the wife to haul a cart around to pick up horse poo with.

I have seen the same check valves as parts in a bunch of different carb or fuel pump rebuild kits, while searching around online. So someone makes them. But to find a source? These are about 7/16" or 1/2" in diameter (have not measured), pressed in to the housing with a thin paper gasket, one facing in, the other facing out.

The other option is to drop a couple dollars (the CHEAP option!)on a pulse style fuel pump and graft that on to the rig. Sorta trying to decide if I want to tap a hole in to the crank case or just in to the intake manifold for the power to run it.

Anyone been down this road before? I have a pulse pump on my welder, I know it runs enough fuel to run more HP than the 14 on the Kohler, but am not entirely sure of how to proceed.

The mid-range option is to put an electric fuel pump on it and wire it to the ignition switch to come on when the key is turned on.
Dunno yet, though.

Cheers
