Fitting leather handle guard.

Does anyone wet the leather down real good prior to lacing it up in hopes that it shrinks down for a tighter fit on the handle?

I Have, and it Works Good. BUT My Recommendation is to Use 90% Rubbing Alcohol, The end Results are Much Better !!!
