I need a hand fine tuning my 162se, it had been sitting for a number of years and over the fall and winter I slowly was able to teach myself how to bring it back to life.
I was out trying it in some wood and noticed a bit of a popping sound when I was into the bigger wood. It also idles good but every once and a while it wants to die after making a cut. Any suggestions?

Here's a picture of the plug, it's not new, I have no idea how long it's been it it. Might be the original from 1978. Lol. 20220225_142207.jpg

Look into rebuilding the carb with a carb kit. You might not get it to tune right if the diaphragms have gotten stiff. These carbs are very easy to rebuild. Youtube is your friend for carb rebuild and also tuning the saw. Important to get your ear tuned via watching a couple of tuning videos.

Carb has been rebuilt, did this carb after I did the carb on my 61. I should hopefully have the final pieces to have both saws up and running. This one pukes out oil on the 20" bar and the 61 barely oils. I need some missing o-rings for the 61's oiler, but I also ordered an aftermarket one just in case. They want $150 for an OEM

Put another 2 tanks of fuel through it today, ran pretty well, but I think I'm still getting a popping sound under heavy load.

I'll put another couple through it tomorrow, should be a bit warmer out, and not so windy, but no mosquitoes

Well I put a couple more tanks through the old girl, during which the end plate for the aftermarket muffler rattled off. No more popping. I don't know if the back pressure was the cause but without the little cover the old girl runs nicely. Going to have to fab up another cover for it and add a little mesh screen.20220304_143225.jpg

If you need the o-rings for the crank oil seal holder and oil pump, or the x-ring that goes to the output of the oil pump, give me a holler.

Put another tank of fuel through the old girl yesterday, it really likes the open ended muffler, for a saw as old as I am, I'd put it up against a new saw.
