My zero turn is failing to crank every 5-7 mows. From what I understand the testing of the battery will be done by putting a meter on the terminals and adjusting the throttle.

If it ends up being the regulator have any of you had luck with no. OEM regulators? Kawasaki parts are not cheap but I do try and get OEM when it’s needed.

The battery should ideally be charging at least 13.5 volts at WOT. If not, check voltage at the red or purple wire at the regulator (VDC) with the engine at WOT to make sure you don’t have a bad connection or blown fuse between the regulator and the battery. If it is still not putting out more voltage than at idle or when the engine is off, test the voltage of the two yellow wires coming to the regulator; that should be putting out 26+ VAC with it unplugged. If so, your stator is good and you have a bad regulator or regulator ground connection. I wouldn’t mess around with aftermarket regulators unless you’re planning to replace the mower soon.
