To follow up on my earlier post, my last shipment from the UK was shipped via DHL. Received an email to pay the tax man or the package would be returned within 5 days.

Order total: $134
Duty: $32.31

🇺🇸
So just under 25%
I wonder how much is tariff/duty or if it includes special handling fees.

Here was the breakdown, just had time to review it. UK tariff/duty is 10% to the USA.

Total cost: 74.93 GBP (102.28 USD)
Shipping: 25.00 GBP (34.12 USD)

Regulatory charges: 1.31 - whatever that is
Import/Export Duties: 14.00 - to the USA
Duty Tax Processing: 17.00 - to DHL

We used to have it good fellas

Sadly I assume that it will be the same for parcels coming the other way. I used to buy a few low value bits and pieces (chainsaw parts, tools, books, etc.) from America every year and never paid any import duty, handling charges, admin fees or taxes.

$112.00 from eBay eh Canada for master drivers side window switch for 2003 XC90 T6. $26.62 is due at delivery from UPS. tariff. Shipping was free from the seller.N.C. tax is 6.5 I think. Just so you know. I wonder if UPS is going to carry a cash box?

Additional charges may have been applied based on recent tariff policy changes.

Yeah, having to pay the delivery driver was one thing I wondered about.
Seeing as a lot of times (mid-day deliverys) we might not be there to pay.
Other issue is danged robberies, if the drivers have to handle cash.

If we have to start setting up accounts with every deliver service that might be used.
That's gonna be a pain to keep track of and watch for data breaches or fraud.

Maybe every driver will be given a credit/debit card reader? No cash required.

It's just that every entity who handles our card info has a so-called user agreement that lets them sell us into another 7~10 companies, including their "social" media affiliates.
I needed to hire a lawyer this year. The online credit card processor was a third party "affiliate". I took a look at the agreement page for that processing outfit and asked the lawyer could I just mail a paper check to him. I did.

Trying to see if there is a direct way to pay US Customs and border protection without going through the shipping carrier. It may be that an individual would need to be setup with a broker.

I was notified ahead of time via a DHL email that duty payment was due and easily paid through their portal. This makes DHL the broker. There was no mention of payment on delivery by the delivery driver.

Trying not to give more money to the shipping companies.
