WANTED Dolmar 7900

First off I'd like to say hello to you all as I'm new to the site. So " hello all. "
I'm looking for new or slightly used dolmar 7900's or cheap cheap parts saws. Also interested in Solos and Makitas along the same size of the Dolmar 7900. Not interested in the 7910's.

Good saw just like the 7900. Is it the 12,8K limited coil? I think they are as good as any 7900 with a little work.

I've had a few 7900's, have heard from quite a few people the stock 7910 doesn't run like a stock 7900. It's not the coil that bothers me, my 7900 had a limiting coil too. I also understand that the 7910 has some fancy plugged up muffler as well.. I know I could change the coil and the muffler but I really just don't want to have to do work to the saw right off the bat. If I'm gonna do that than I'll buy a ported 7910. I guess it's just preference, I'd rather have the 7900's..

The 7910's are still one of the best 70-80cc saws right out of the box. The coils are only going to help mostly with tuning so you're not bumping the rev limiter while tuning at WOT. If you tune like you should buried in wood you wont have that problem. I don't know that I tune mine much past 11-11,500rpm for 28"+ bar work anyhow. Am I wrong? Are you guys tuning higher on stock/lightly modified saws?

Fixing the 7910 SLR muffler helps a little but it's not a huge improvement until you do the porting, coil, carb and muffler. If you're going to run it mostly stock there's really not much difference between the two in stock form. This is a SLR 7910 muffler pictured from the back. You can see you are restricted on the outlet size but the design is to make a reduction chamber a keep a more back pressure on the unburned fuel mix coming in so you get lets fuel slip and a more complete burn. More restrictive than the 7900... Yes but only a little. You wont see the benefits of removing this until you moddify the carb to push more fuel and air through the whole system.

SLR removed:

7900/6400 muffler - Keep in mid that there is still a diffuser sleeve inside most of the 7900/6400 mufflers that create the same slow down in exhaust gas. Just a hair better than the SLR's. pic of modified 6421 below with diffuser cut open. I just wanted to dispell some of the myths on the 7900/7910 changes.

My 7900/7910 4 strokes pretty hard at 12,800 and it takes a good load to clean up. Mine wears a 28" bar most of the time

I usually air on the side of caution and set a little rich for others. Especially when I don't know what oil some might use. Oh shoot did I just turn this into an oil thread???

Later. I have 2 of these to build and I'm hoping Bruce will get us some unlimited coils shortly. Also may have to send ya a carb as I will also try the rjw4 carb on them as well.
