I'm now thinking the same thing as you either 421 or 241.

I love my little 421. Got over 20 saws it's usually the first one I grab. If it's proper sized wood of course. Too bad Dolmar went down the way they did. Not sure Makita will be around long either. 421, 5105, 6100, 7900 are some damn fine saws. I love my 64/7900 chassis saws.

I had a 241 briefly. It was a good little saw but much slower than the 261 and weight wasn’t noticeable different with 16 inch bars. I’ve recently acquired a ms200 rear handle and it cuts about as fast as the 241 and about 2 pounds lighter. Look for a ms200 rear handle. You won’t be disappointed

I'm still looking for a 421/4300 also. Anyone know what happened with Dolmar? Did they shut down and lock the door? Sure would be nice if Makita would sell them.

Stihl 025's are great first saws.
45cc's, I've noticed they are pretty reasonably priced compared to other Stihls (especially a project).
There is a running good condition one locally to me for $125 w/bar & chain.

In a package deal, I ended up with a 021. I find it a very nice saw...pulling a 16" 3/8LP without issue.

They are highly available and super cheap.

The rear handle 201 is a great little saw, just a pure pain to work on. That's why I prefer the rather simple, open platform of the 241c

They rip for sure! Not sure it meets the spring av requirement for John though. Although I will say I have run the xs 543 the better part of a day a couple times now and it hasn’t bothered my white finger @Johnmn
