421 with 16" is a great combo for all around use, you make the choice 325 or 3/8lp. I've set a few up with 18" 325NK that worked really well too, I'm not a fan of the 18" 3/8lp though, it just doesn't cut well with the bar buried

I have booth saws, booth have there pros and cons, dealer support would probably make the decisionfor me, my dad won't part with his 026 and my son loves his 421. The 026 is probably 1 the easiest saw to get parts for.

Dealer support doesn't matter I have to drive an hour for anything. I know parts for the stihl would be easier to get. Kinda going in the 40,60,80cc direction. Probably would have it set up with .325, I was just thinking 18 inch bar for a little more reach

I ran a Miller Mod Makita version of the 421. That was easily the most impressive small saw I have ran.
My backup plan would be to get a Makita version from him or fordf150 but there's a dealer a little less than a hour away that says he has a dolmar. I know they are the same saw just kinda want a dolmar branded

I thinks we should look at this another way. Give everyone steroids so they can run the 60 and 80cc saws

Check prices. I'd be willing to bet one of the dealers on here can get you a better price

1 yr on the ground Ash...dried out a bit and X cut to extract . Broke my 420 (uk 421) in on it ...had a Husqvarna 357 xp with me to , never bothered with it at all . Only a cat removal/gill slots bent open more ( 15 mins if done with care ) for that standard look without to much noise. 15 inch bar /.325 chain and some timber up to 18 inch ....Its a "bigger hitting ".." small " ..saw.

I have a MS260 Pro and a 421. Easier starting, way better AV, and the can do attitude of the 421 favor the Dolmar. Mine is de-catted, and runs Stihl PS chain on a 16".
My only saw that friends ask to try again, and come back smiling.

Both are just solid. My first saw was a makita 50 something cc on the same chassis I believe. Makita blue is just better. Gas, oil pull rope and run. Also after laying in the dust for a year. Untill you mix up 4t oil with 2t oil. Then the fun stops very abruptly. And you have to buy a 353 like mentioned before (didn't test the 4t oil on that one yet).
