Sorry again it has been so long since my last posting here. Made and installed trailer fenders. Trailer is all completed and painted. Removed the wire mesh floor, it was noisy, just a pain and not needed. Went and bought all the steel needed to finish this build, almost a $1000 worth of steel. Made heavy angle iron mounts for the 500 gallon propane tank, set them up and welded them in place to cradle the tank, worked well. Cut one end off the tank and burned the tank out to more less clean it. Sanded and painted the tank with high heat paint. Cut the doors out, made hinges, door handles and door seals, welded them all in place. Yesterday I made counter balance weighting for the doors, need to weld them in place. Here are some photos.

Layed and cut out the end plate out of a 1/4" x 4' x 8' steel plate, for the pit and firebox offset. Notice the bottom of the end plate is flat, as I plan to use two 12" wide I beams 5' long, welded together to form the bottom of the firebox. The edges of the I beams will be welded to a 30" diameter propane tank which will have a 24" wide section cut out of it the 5' length of the tank. I know, hard to visualize. Once its all in place it will make sense. I did this because I did not want the main pit to be higher off the trailer than it already was and to have enough firebox offset, so cutting some inches (the 24" wide strip) off the length (horizontal bottom) of the firebox, accomplished my goal of having enough offset (low enough) and also not having to cut sections of horizontal pipe out of the trailer. The bottom flanges of the I beam I plan on cutting radius edges to fit the trailer pipe to support and cradle on.

20200210_174212.jpg 20200210_174224.jpg Well guys progress has been made on this pit. I have been so busy with welder repair I have not been able to get back on this project until the last few days. So the vertical smoker has finally been installed. I towed it to a friends ranch to build the slide out grills, sandblast and paint it all. It towed really well.

It will be time to crank it up soon! Put some meat on it and get smokin!
