I have 2 very nice Disston power saw bars I'd like to trade for Homelite bars for either a Homelite 20mcs or model 17
1st bar is 26" long and the 2nd is 20" long.

Let me know if you're interested!

Wow! Cool. How did it cut?

They cut slower than molasses running uphill in a January deep freeze. That scratcher type chain is not known for speedy cutting but it was the very early kind of cutters on chainsaw chain. Disston was the only saw I have ever seen straddle type drivers used on but scratcher chain cutters were used on many of the early chainsaws. They sort of cut like a carpenters hand saw and was likely what they were patterned after when saws first hit the market.

The chain we use today was a big leap in cutting technology, helped along greatly by men like Joe Cox who came up with the offset C shaped chain, his idea came to him while watching wood boring beetles. Their cutting teeth of a C shape gave him inspiration to develop a type of chipper chain of which the modern chains developed from. Joe founded the Oregon Chain Company which is still operating today under different ownership.

What length bar are you looking for? I may have something in that mount if it's the same as a 7-29.

I believe I have a 24" bar but will look again tomorrow. However, I don't need a Disston bar. PM me and I will send pictures. If I recall correctly it has a very nice homelite stencil on it.
