Was googling for variable exhaust port timing thanks to the pipe building theroy thread below. Found this link, it is a windowed piston design two stroke where the connecting rod covers a window in the piston to keep mix from passing into the transfers. Cool. But I still don't know what variable exhaust port timing is!

Very interesting read. Thank you for sharing. The concept seems to apply more to a longer stroke 2 stroke than what a chain saw offers. Myself, I will have to read again and believe I may have a different view. Thanks again!

Variable exhaust timing for what I know is like the power valve in a motor cycle. Google that and it should answer your question.
