Does any know if any manufacturer makes a D025/3003 mount bar that is 3/8 lo pro/ picco 16" .050 gauge. Have a 024 that i would like to run 63ps chain on.

Not apposed to modding the tail on a 3005 bar but would like it to be factory

I knew it had to be out there. The few stihl bar and chain catalogs I look threw didn't have them listed. Only .325.

@PA Dan

What saw do you use that bar on? How do you like the 3/8 picco to say .325.

I have always felt the 024/026 to be a bit under powered for .325 chain.

16" 3003 000 6313 ( 60dl )

18" 3003 000 6317 ( 66dl )

That bar was used on a ported 026. We tested that and the .325. If I remember correctly the .325 cut a little faster. The picco was smoother.

I ordered the 16 bar from my dealer few years ago for $45. On a 026 the ps cut faster than .325 rs. The disadvantage is ps is much more prone to pinching in the cut. If you can find a bar .325 .050 it will be your best bet with 024

I got a couple of the 3/8 P bars on order from stihl. I have ran a few 026 with .325
and felt the chain really pulls the power out of them. It was a bit better on the 260pro saws and the 261. I will try these 3/8p bars as i already keep a roll of 63ps chain for my top handle saws and stick saw. I have .325 .050 gauge bars in 3003 mount.

In Canada we can get a MS261 Performance Kit that includes the bar @PA Dan showed, the sprocket and 3 chains. I’m pretty sure the one Dan showed inks one a few of us donated to his daughter Sarah.

You might find 23 RS Pro narrow kerf to your liking in .325. It's an actual .050 chain, not .063 with stepped down drive links like 23rs.
I've never really felt that .325 was too much for an 026, I haven't ran my 024 yet, so I can't comment on that.

That said, I've found 33rs is significantly faster on my main 026, but it's not exactly stock...
